AIM stands for "American Instant Messenger". Since you live in the UK, I suspect you didn't know that. Since Newgrounds is located on Pennsylvania (USA), and (I think) the majority of the users are from USA (UK I think being #2), they have added that feature in your account information section. Most people use AIM (I don't, since I have no fucking patience over IM and is not as flexible as PMs) so NG added that section as another form of contacting that user.
